SunPower by Legacy Solar was founded by Luke and Angie Luginbuhl in 2017 with the mission of providing superb customer service and bringing solar power to families and businesses in the midwest. The Luginbuhls have deep roots in central Illinois. As a former physics teacher at both Washington Community High School (Washington, IL) and University High School (Normal, IL), Luke had long held an interest in solar. The Luginbuhls dreamed of creating a self-sustaining property with a net-zero home for their family. When Luke heard about incentives and tax credits in Illinois, he installed solar on his own machine shed. Word spread quickly and, before long, he’d put solar on five other farms and homes. Legacy Solar was born. Luke says, “We named it Legacy because family has always been one of our core values and we wanted to create something that will last for years---something to pass on to the next generation. With 40 years of usable life, our panels definitely fit that bill. Legacy is about giving the next generation something that matters---clean energy and energy independence.”
